Product description:P-toluenesulfonyl chloride (TSCL) is a white flake crystal with a melting point of 69 ~ 71 ºC. It is an important intermediate of organic synthetic drugs. It is mainly used in the synthesis of drugs such as chloramphenicol, chloramine-T and Thiamphenicol.

 

Application

Core uses of Tosyl chloride:
1. Organic synthesis field
Sulfonylation reaction:
Reacting with alcohols, phenols, and amines to form sulfonic acid esters (protecting hydroxyl groups) or sulfonamides (protecting amino groups), widely used in the preparation of organic intermediates;
Participate in the epoxidation reaction of 1,2-diol and the conversion of allyl alcohol to allyl chloride.
Selective modification:
Selective control of O - or N-sulfonylation can be achieved by adjusting solvents such as pyridine or triethylamine;
Promote Beckmann rearrangement reaction to generate lactam compounds.
2. Analytical Chemistry Applications
Derivative reagents:
Reacting with hydroxyl/amino compounds to generate easily detectable derivative products for GC-MS, HPLC-MS analysis of drugs, pesticides, and food ingredients;
Detecting drug impurities or preparing stable compounds (such as quality control reagents).
3. Pesticide Industry
Drug synthesis:
Synthesis of sulfonamide drugs (such as metoclopramide), antibiotics, and anticancer drug intermediates;
Pesticide production:
Prepare herbicides (such as metoclopramide) and fungicides (such as metoclopramide).

P-Toluene sulfonyl chloride (PTSC) is a white crystalline powder. It has a minimum purity of 99% and a melting point not lower than 67ºC. The maximum water content is 0.05%, and the colority (APHA) should not exceed 20. The maximum content of free acid is 0.3%, and the maximum content of o-toluene sulfonyl chloride (OTSC) is 0.2%.

PTSC is an important organic compound with wide applications in the chemical and industrial fields. It is commonly used in the synthesis of dyes, and high-molecular-weight materials. PTSC exhibits excellent chemical stability and reactivity, making it a valuable raw material for synthesizing intermediates and functional materials.
