Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C16H22O4. It is mainly used as a plasticizer for cellulose resin, vinyl resin, nitrile rubber and chlorinated rubber. It is made by esterification of phthalic anhydride and isobutyl alcohol. It is a colorless transparent liquid with good compatibility. It can be soluble in cellulose and resins such as polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, and polyvinyl acetate.
