Basic information
English name: Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene, referred to as CSM.
Appearance: white or milky white flake or granular solid.
Density: relative density 1.07-1.28.
Molecular structure: saturated elastomer with polyethylene as the main chain, average molecular weight 30000-120000, and contains chlorosulfonyl active groups in the molecular structure.

Physical and chemical properties
Solubility: soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbons, insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons and alcohols, only swells but does not dissolve in ketones, esters, and ethers.
Mooney viscosity: 30-90.
Brittle temperature: -56ºC to -40ºC.
Chemical stability: excellent ozone resistance, weather resistance, heat resistance, flame retardancy, water resistance, chemical resistance, oil resistance, wear resistance, etc.


Application field
Wire and cable industry: It is widely used as the coating and insulation layer of wires and cables. Its heat resistance and chemical resistance can effectively protect wires and cables and extend their service life.
Construction field: It is an ideal material for industrial pools, tanks, reservoir linings and single-layer roof waterproofing layers, with good waterproof and weather resistance.
Automotive industry: It can be used to manufacture automotive parts, hoses, spark plugs and ignition wires, etc., meeting the requirements of automotive parts for oil resistance, heat resistance, ozone resistance and other properties.
Industrial products: used to manufacture pipes, conveyor belts, seals, etc. With its excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance and aging resistance, it can ensure the normal use of industrial products in harsh environments.
Coatings: widely used in coatings, accounting for about 85% of the share. Anti-corrosion coatings prepared with CSM as the basic material have good ozone resistance, weathering resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and can effectively protect the surface of the coated object from corrosion.

Processing characteristics
Reinforcement and filling: Even without adding reinforcing fillers, its vulcanized rubber has a high static vulcanization strength. However, adding reinforcing fillers such as carbon black, calcium carbonate, and kaolin can improve the process performance of the rubber, improve the heat resistance and wear resistance of the vulcanized rubber, and reduce costs.
Stabilization and protection: Stabilizers such as stearates, organic tin, and magnesium oxide are usually used to prevent chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber from degrading during production, storage, and use.
