Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) is an organic compound with a broad spectrum of applications. It is a highly effective bactericide and preservative, mainly used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and molds.
Application areas
Methylisothiazolinone is widely used in personal care products, cosmetics, coatings, pulp and other fields. In cosmetics, it is used as a preservative with a maximum concentration of 0.01%. In addition, it is also used as a preservative in bath and washing liquids.
