It can produce salt forming reaction, esterification reaction, amidation reaction, etc., and can condense with diamines or alcohols to form high molecular polymers, etc. Adipic acid is an important dicarboxylic acid in industry. It plays an important role in chemical production, organic synthesis industry, medicine, Lubricant manufacturing and so on. Its output ranks second among all dicarboxylic acids.

The functional group of adipic acid is carboxyl, so it will have the properties of carboxyl, such as salt forming reaction, esterification reaction, amidation reaction, etc. At the same time, as a dicarboxylic acid, it can also condense with diamines or alcohols to form high molecular polymers.
