Methyltin mercaptan is an organic tin compound, one of the three major organic tin varieties, with excellent thermal stability and transparency, and is widely used in the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products. The main components of methyltin mercaptan include dimethyltin mercaptan and monomethyltin mercaptan, which are usually mixed in a weight ratio of 20:80 to provide excellent initial stability and long-term stability.

Chemical and physical properties
Methyltin mercaptan is a transparent and clear viscous liquid that is non-flammable and has a low freezing point. It remains viscous even at -20°C. Its density is about 1.18g/cm³ and its viscosity is 60-90mPa·S at 25°C. The molecular formula of methyl tin mercaptan is C31H60O6S3Sn and C22H44O4S2Sn, and the molecular weights are 742.3 and 555.41 respectively.


Application field
Methyl tin mercaptan is mainly used in the production of PVC products, including films, sheets, plates, pellets, pipes, fittings and profiles. Its excellent thermal stability and transparency make it an important auxiliary agent in PVC processing. In addition, methyl tin mercaptan is also suitable for various processing technologies of soft and hard polyvinyl chloride, such as calendering, extrusion, injection molding and blow molding.

Safety and environmental protection
Methyl tin mercaptan products have been approved by the US FDA and certified by the German BGA, and can be used for food packaging materials and water pipes.
