Triphenyl phosphate (TPP) is a phosphorus-containing compound, mainly used as a halogen-free environmentally friendly flame retardant, and can be dissolved in organic solvents. Its chemical formula is C18H1504P, molecular weight is 326.29, and CAS registration number is 115-86-6
Physical properties
Triphenyl phosphate appears as a white, odorless crystalline powder with slight deliquescent properties. Its melting point is 47-
53ºC, boiling point is 370ºC, density is 1.21 g/cm³, flash point is 220ºC, vapor pressure is 0.01 kPa/20ºC
It is insoluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, but soluble in benzene, acetone and ether
Uses
Triphenyl phosphate is mainly used as a flame retardant plasticizer for engineering plastics and phenolic resin laminates, and can also be used as a softener for synthetic rubber, a raw material for the manufacture of trimethyl phosphate, etc.
In addition, it can also be used as a flame retardant plasticizer for cellulose acetate, a fire-resistant solvent, synthetic resin, a wetting agent for roofing paper, and a camphor substitute for celluloid manufacturing, etc.
Safety information
Triphenyl phosphate is flammable, harmful and harmful to the environment. Safety measures should be taken during handling and use to avoid contact with skin and eyes and avoid inhalation of its vapor. It should be stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place
