Acrylic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H4O2. It is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor, miscible with water, and soluble in ethanol and ether. It is chemically active and easily polymerizes in air. It can be reduced to propionic acid by hydrogenation and reacts with hydrogen chloride to produce 2-chloropropionic acid. It is mainly used for the preparation of acrylic resins.
 

Application

1. Important organic synthesis raw materials and synthetic resin monomers are ethylene monomers with very fast polymerization rates. Most of them are used to manufacture acrylic esters such as methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, hydroxyethyl acrylate, etc. Acrylic acid and acrylic ester can be homopolymerized and copolymerized, as well as copolymerized with monomers such as acrylonitrile, styrene, butadiene, vinyl chloride, and maleic anhydride. Its polymers are used in industrial sectors such as synthetic resins, adhesives, synthetic rubber, synthetic fibers, superabsorbent resins, pharmaceuticals, leather, textiles, chemical fibers, building materials, water treatment, petroleum extraction, coatings, etc. Acrylic acid is one of the important raw materials for water-soluble polymers, and grafting copolymerization with starch can produce super absorbent agents;
2. Preparation of high polymers through homopolymerization or copolymerization, used in coatings, adhesives, solid resins, molding compounds, etc.
3. Preparation of acrylic resin, rubber synthesis, coating preparation, pharmaceutical industry;
4. Paste on warp yarn
The warp yarn slurry prepared from raw materials such as acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, ammonium polyacrylate, etc. has a larger capacity for desizing and saves starch compared to polyvinyl alcohol slurry.
5. Adhesive
Acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and other copolymer latex can be used as an adhesive for electrostatic flocking and hair planting, with good firmness and hand feel.
6. Water thickener
Produce high molecular weight powder using a copolymer of acrylic acid and ethyl acrylate. Can be used as a thickener in oil fields, with a yield increase of 500 tons of crude oil per ton of product, and has a good oil recovery effect on old wells;
(2) Adhesive materials include acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, etc;
7. Copperplate paper coating agent
Using quaternary copolymer latex of acrylic acid, butyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, styrene, etc. as copperplate paper coating, color retention is not yellowing, printing performance is good, non stick to rollers, better than styrene butadiene latex, and can save dry matter;
8. Polyacrylic acid salts
Acrylic acid can be used to produce various polyacrylic acid salt products (such as ammonium salts, sodium salts, potassium salts, aluminum salts, nickel salts, etc.). Used as a coagulant, water treatment agent, dispersant, thickener, food preservative, acid and alkali resistant desiccant, softener and other polymer additives.
