N-Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C5H13NO2 and a colorless or dark yellow oily liquid appearance. It is miscible with water and alcohol, slightly soluble in ether, and has hygroscopicity and ammonia smell.

The main uses of N-methyldiethanolamine are very wide, including use as an emulsifier and acid gas absorbent, acid-base controller, polyurethane foam catalyst, and it is also an intermediate for anti-tumor drugs such as hydrochloric acid mustard. In addition, it is also used in oilfield gas, natural gas, synthesis gas and tail gas treatment to reduce the content of acid gas, and is used in the production of fabric softeners, ion modification of acrylic polymers, silicone series textile finishing agents and paper sizing agents.
