Ivermectin has a good expelling effect on nematodes in the body and arthropods on the surface. The expelling rate of blood lancet nematodes, Osterlonema, Cooperia, Trichostrongylus (including Ehrlich's nematodes), round nematodes, bunostomum, nematodes, trichocephalus, esophagostomum, Dictyocaulus, and adult and fourth-stage larvae of Chabert's nematodes in cattle and sheep is 97% to 100%. It is also very effective against arthropods, such as maggots, mites and lice. The effect on chewing lice and sheep tick flies is slightly worse. Ivermectin is also very effective against ticks and flies that breed in feces. Although the drug cannot kill ticks immediately, it can affect feeding, molting and egg laying, thereby reducing reproductive capacity. The effect on blood flies is similar. The expulsion rate of Ascaris lumbricoides, Red Strongyloides, Strongyloides lamblia, Trichocephalus, Oesophagostomum, Metastrongyloides, and Cronuclea dentata is 94% to 100%. It is also very effective against Trichinella spiralis in the intestine (ineffective against Trichinella spiralis in the muscle), and has a good control effect on pig blood lice and pig scabies. It is ineffective against flukes and tapeworms.
