Lead Sulfate Tribasic, with the chemical formula of 3Pb0·PbS04·H20, is an inorganic compound mainly used as a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride. It has excellent heat resistance, electrical insulation and light resistance, and is particularly suitable for high-temperature processing.
Physical properties
Appearance: Superior and first-class products are white powders, and qualified products are white or slightly yellow powders. Density: 7.1g/cm³ Melting point: 820ºC
Solubility: Insoluble in water, ethanol and organic solvents, but soluble in alkalis, hot concentrated hydrochloric acid and ammonium acetate solutions
Chemical properties
Stability: It begins to lose crystal water above about 200C, is easy to absorb moisture, and will discolor and decompose when exposed to sunlight in a humid state
Toxicity: Slightly sweet, toxic
Use
Lead Sulfate Tribasic is mainly used as a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride, especially suitable for opaque polyvinyl chloride hard pipes, plates and injection molded products, and also used for artificial leather products. Due to its excellent heat resistance and electrical insulation, it is also widely used in polyvinyl chloride electrical insulation materials and coatings.
Preparation method
Tribasic lead sulfate can be prepared by the following two main methods:
Lead oxide method: lead oxide is reacted with sulfuric acid under the catalysis of acetic acid.
Blue lead method: blue lead is oxidized and then hydrolyzed with acetic acid, and then reacted with sulfuric acid. The reactant is then subjected to double decomposition reaction with dilute sodium hydroxide solution to obtain
