The physical properties of trimethylamine hydrochloride include:

Appearance: Off-white or light yellow monoclinic crystals, with a slight trimethylamine-like odor.
Melting point: 283-284ºC (decomposition), sublimation begins at 200ºC.
Boiling point: 2.8°C at 760 mmHg.
Vapor pressure: 1720mmHg at 25°C.
Solubility: Easily soluble in water, soluble in alcohol and chloroform, insoluble in ether, easily hygroscopic, and deliquescent.

Alkaline catalyst: used for esterification, ketalization, olefination and other reactions.
Protonating agent: used for various organic reactions.
Reducing agent: used for reduction of metal ions and other reactions.
