It is a colorless, transparent liquid with a low density (0.9±0.1 g/cm³) and boiling point (195.7±8.0 °C at 760 mmHg). The melting point of isooctyl acetate is -92 °C and the flash point is 71.4±8.3 °C, which indicates that it is flammable under certain conditions. Its molecular formula is C10H20O2 and its molecular weight is 172.265. Isooctyl acetate is insoluble in water but can be miscible in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone.
