Diethanolamine (DEA) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C4H11NO2. Its molecular structure contains two hydroxyl groups (-OH) and one amino group (-NH-), which makes it highly hydrophilic and alkaline. It usually exists in the form of a colorless viscous liquid or crystal, with a melting point of 28°C and a boiling point of up to 268.8°C. It is easily soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in organic solvents such as ether and benzene.
Diethanolamine has a wide range of applications. It can be used as a gas purifier to absorb acidic gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide in the air. Therefore, it is widely used in the purification process of industrial fields such as oil and natural gas, and can be recycled. In addition, diethanolamine is also used as a corrosion inhibitor, which plays a corrosion inhibitor role in drilling and cutting oils and other types of lubricants, extending the service life of equipment. In the cosmetics and detergent industries, diethanolamine is used as a thickener and foam improver to enhance the product experience. It is also used in organic synthesis and is an important raw material for the synthesis of a variety of drugs, pesticides, dyes and surfactants.
