Product Description

Ammonium polyphosphate (APP) is a polyphosphate containing nitrogen and phosphorus, referred to as APP, with a general chemical formula of (NH4)n+2PnO3n+1. It can be divided into three types according to the degree of polymerization: low polyphosphate, medium polyphosphate and high polyphosphate. The higher the degree of polymerization, the lower the water solubility. Ammonium polyphosphate is easily soluble in water, its solubility is greater than that of ammonium orthophosphate, and it can chelate metal cations to retain them in the solution. The n value in its molecular formula represents the degree of polymerization. When n<20, ammonium polyphosphate is water-soluble; when n>20, it is water-insoluble. The physical and chemical properties of ammonium polyphosphate make it widely used in many fields.

Flame retardant: When ammonium polyphosphate is used as a flame retardant, its high-polymerization crystalline ammonium polyphosphate shows significant advantages due to its good water insolubility, high decomposition temperature and good compatibility with polymer materials. Compared with halogen-containing flame retardants, crystalline type II ammonium polyphosphate has the characteristics of low toxicity, low smoke, and inorganic, and is a new type of high-efficiency inorganic flame retardant.

Fertilizer: Ammonium polyphosphate has also entered the fertilizer field as a new type of fertilizer, and is often used as a basic phosphate fertilizer for the preparation of high-concentration liquid compound fertilizers. Its composition includes orthophosphate, pyrophosphate, tripolyphosphate, and tetrapolyphosphate and polyphosphates of tetrapolyphosphate or above.

Other applications: In addition, ammonium polyphosphate is also used in flame retardant treatment of adhesives, sealants, wood, paper, plywood, fiberboard, and thermosetting resins such as epoxy resins or unsaturated resins.
The application of ammonium polyphosphate is not limited to the above-mentioned fields. Its unique physical and chemical properties make it an ideal choice for a variety of application scenarios.
