Properties: Isopropanolamine is optically active and liquid at room temperature. Freezing point 1.4ºC, boiling point 160ºC, 59.5ºC (0.133kPa), relative density 0.9681 (20/20ºC), viscosity (20ºC) 31mPa·s, refractive index 1.465, flash point 80ºC. Soluble in water and ethanol, the aqueous solution is alkaline, can react with acid to form esters, and react with acid halides to form amide compounds. Prepared by the reaction of propylene oxide and ammonia water.
