Physical and chemical properties
Depending on the relative molecular mass, the appearance of polydimethylsiloxane ranges from colorless and transparent volatile liquid to extremely high viscosity liquid or silica gel. It has physiological inertness, good chemical stability, electrical insulation and weather resistance, a wide viscosity range, low freezing point, high flash point, good hydrophobicity, and high shear resistance. It can be used for a long time at a temperature of 50-180°C. At the same time, PDMS has good permeability and is an ideal carrier material for various chemical biosensors.
Application
Polydimethylsiloxane can be used as a defoamer, lubricant, and release agent, and is widely used in chemical, textile, printing and dyeing, papermaking and other industries. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) has good biocompatibility, thermal stability and non-toxicity, and is often used in the preparation of microfluidic chips and the production of space cell culture chips.
Function and Principle
Polydimethylsiloxane has good lubricity. After being applied to the skin, it can form a uniform waterproof protective film, which has no sticky and greasy feeling and good gloss. It has good anti-ultraviolet radiation performance and will not oxidize and deteriorate under ultraviolet rays to cause skin irritation. It has good anti-static ability. Tests have shown that the static electricity of the skin that has been wiped with polydimethylsiloxane skin cream is completely eliminated, and it has a significant dust-proof effect. It has good air permeability, and even if a silicone film is formed on the skin, it does not affect perspiration. It also has the effect of slow release and fragrance fixation. The combination of low surface tension, easy spreading, and appropriate viscosity gives personal care products a lubricating and non-greasy feeling, making the skin soft. It has the effects of anti-foaming, defoaming, and anti-foaming, preventing the "whitening" phenomenon when applying the product. Different products need to choose different viscosities. The higher the viscosity, the greater the oiliness, and the lower the viscosity, the dry feeling of the skin.
