Diglycolamine is an important organic chemical raw material and solvent with the chemical formula C4H11NO2, which has a wide range of uses.
Diglycolamine, also known as diethylene glycolamine, is a colorless or light yellow liquid with hygroscopicity and a pungent odor. It has a melting point of -12.5°C, a boiling point between 218-224°C, a density of 1.05g/cm³, and is miscible with water, alcohols and aromatic olefins, but has poor dispersibility in aliphatic olefins and ether12.
Diglycolamine has important applications in many fields. It can be used as an absorbent for acidic gases, a surfactant, a wetting agent, and a raw material for polymers. Especially in metalworking fluids, diglycolamine can extend the service life of cutting tools, protect ferrous metals from corrosion, and has low corrosion to aluminum metal stains due to its low toxicity, low aquatic toxicity, and low nitrite generation. In addition, it is also used in the synthesis of pesticides and insecticides, drug synthesis (such as anticancer drugs, antidiabetic drugs), and additives for cosmetics and personal care products.
