Physical and chemical properties
Physical properties: easily soluble in hot water, ethanol, ether, slightly soluble in benzene. Relative density 1.332, melting point 170-171ºC, boiling point 285-287ºC, flash point 165ºC.

Chemical properties: relatively stable, but flammable when exposed to open flames and high heat, decomposes into carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, reacts with strong oxidants, and releases toxic gases when decomposed by high heat.
Uses

Photography: It is a commonly used developer for black and white photos, which can reduce the photosensitive silver halide on the photosensitive material to metallic silver to form a visible image.
Rubber industry: As an antioxidant, it inhibits rubber oxidation and aging, and extends the service life of the product. For example, adding it to automobile tires can reduce aging phenomena such as cracking and hardening.
Dye industry: It is an important intermediate for the synthesis of anthraquinone dyes, azo dyes, etc., and is used in dyeing processes in textile, leather and other industries.
Pharmaceutical field: It is used to synthesize a variety of drugs such as antibacterial drugs and antimalarial drugs, and can also be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate to participate in the synthesis of complex drug molecules.
Electronic industry: It can be used to prepare photoresists in electronic components and plays an important role in the graphic process of semiconductor manufacturing.
