Monobutyltin oxide, with the chemical formula Sn(OBu)4, is a colorless or light yellow liquid with special chemical properties. It has good thermal stability and chemical stability, and can maintain the stability of its structure and properties under certain conditions. In addition, monobutyltin oxide also has strong reactivity and can react chemically with a variety of compounds to generate organic tin compounds with specific functions
Physical properties
The physical properties of monobutyltin oxide include:
Appearance: colorless or light yellow liquid Density: 1.46g/L Boiling point: 350ºC
Solubility: insoluble in water and most organic solvents, but soluble in strong alkali and mineral acids
Chemical properties
Monobutyltin oxide is very stable in water, with a small amount but strong effect. It is suitable for esterification and condensation reactions at a temperature range of 210-240ºC. It will dissolve in organic acids when the reaction temperature reaches 80ºC, but it does not affect the quality of the product. Monobutyl tin oxide can withstand high temperature reactions at 250C, and is neutral and non-corrosive.
Application fields
Monobutyl tin oxide is widely used in many fields:
Plastic stabilizer raw materials: used for plastic stabilization and protection. Polyurethane catalysis: used as a catalyst in polyurethane synthesis. Organotin intermediates: used to synthesize other organotin compounds.
Esterification reaction catalyst: improves efficiency and purity in esterification reactions. Electrophoretic electrodeposition coating catalyst: used for the preparation of electrophoretic electrodeposition coatings.
